Brave the Shave
with Catherine Fell

On the 1st September the lovely Verity, hairdresser at the Vanity Box in Battlesbridge, got the clippers ready and helped me to ‘Brave the Shave’. This brave act was to raise much needed funds for the Macmillan cancer support charity.
After having dealt with a great deal of cancer in my family I really wanted to do my part to show my support to my family and friends dealing with this horrible illness. My main reason and force behind braving the shave was my sister, after having cancer and coming out the other side. Although she has been one of the lucky ones each year, the worry before going for that all important scan plays heavily on her mind.
Now my cousin has been diagnosed with lymphoma, the treatments going forward are yet to be confirmed, but again a massive worry.
The support Macmillan services provide are so crucial for patients and families going forward. They provide not just practical support but that all important emotional support which some families wouldn’t be able to cope without.
I set my target at £500 and reached it! I plan on doing some more fundraising events to help get those important funds in, so please watch this space and my social media to see how you can help too!
